Glossary
Ten words you may meet around PollyPay. None of them need anything from you.
Cash out
Moving support from your payout account to your bank. Coinbase handles it. The first time they check who you are, which can take minutes or a few days. After that a bank transfer usually lands in one to three working days. Coinbase sets any fee and shows it first.
Coinbase
The company that turns card payments into digital dollars and digital dollars into bank transfers. They check your identity once, and that check is the slow part. We never see your card or bank details.
Final
Once a payment lands, no bank and no company can pull it back. If a creator wants to return money, they can send it back from their dashboard and you get an email.
Handle
The name in your page address, as in pollypay.uk/@yourname. Letters, numbers and underscores. Each one is unique.
Identity check
The one time step where Coinbase asks who you are before a first card payment or bank transfer. It is their rule, not ours, and we cannot speed it up. Your money is safe while you wait.
Passkey
A way to sign in with your fingerprint, face or phone PIN instead of an email link. Nothing to remember. Optional.
Payout account
Where your support lands and stays until you move it. It is not your bank account. You make one with your email in about twenty seconds. Only you can move what is in it, we cannot.
Receipt
The email a supporter gets after paying, if they left an address. It lists the amount and a reference for the payment. The receipt page shows the same without the name or note.
Refund
A creator sending money back to a supporter from the dashboard. Only the creator can do it, because PollyPay cannot move anyone else's money. The supporter gets an email when it lands.
USDC
The digital dollars every payment uses. One USDC is always worth one US dollar. You may see the word on Coinbase and in wallet apps; you never need to do anything with it.
